October - The month of scares!

We are thirteen days into October and so much close to Halloween already!

But let this year be about actual scares instead of made-up ghost stories and characters. Point to remember: We are Pakistanis, there is no concept of Halloween in our culture nor the Day of the Dead festivities, hence we will avoid such things. Instead, we'll be focusing on many horrifying events taking place around the world regarding our community.

To bring you up to speed, let it be known that crimes against the Muslim community have been rapidly increasing. While most of the world remains silent on the atrocities being committed, some of them happen to be Muslim countries too.

These are the genuine horrors of life. So many people living under the fear of their life. Countless homes destroyed and much more to be destroyed, with no condemnation from the Super Power Countries.

The constant bloodshed in Syria, Palestine, Yemen, Kashmir and many other places! By Allah! It is impossible to list all the countries here. Muslims are facing discrimination even in countries like Canada, America and UK. Are we safe anywhere? We are not even safe in our own country, let alone in other countries.

How can you celebrate a day that has no actual meaning rather than put the same effort in raising awareness against crimes committed against your own people?

So starting today, we will be focussed on bringing to light stories of real horror being faced by people in war torn countries, rather than fictional camp fire ghost stories.

Writeups are welcomed from everyone. We will be accepting short stories and 'Voice-raising' articles. So pick up that pen and start pouring out your heart and show your support to your fellow Muslim brother and sisters.

You can email us your entries at

Note: Your writeups will be proof-read by our team.

JazakAllah,

Team Youthistan.
