Humanity Washed Ashore?

A beautiful beach, wind blowing, cool sea breeze. A man stood near the shore taking in the beautiful scene. Gazing out in the ocean, he sighed and started to walk along the shore. The clear blue sky above him was mesmerizing. Nothing seemed to be more beautiful or soothing than this moment right here.

Suddenly, he saw something on the beach. The waves kept crashing against the tiny thing. When the man came close enough, he saw it was a little boy, about 3-4 years old. Laying face first on the sand, the boy wore a red shirt and blue shorts.

The man rushed to the child's side, flipping him over, he checked him for a pulse or any sign of life. But it was too late, the boy had been dead for a while. There was no telling how long he had been there. The man was devastated at this sight. He prayed for the little boy as he caressed his hair. What more could he do for him? He tried calling the local ambulance and then sat there. He kept staring at the more empty vessel before him.

Who could be so vile as to hurt such an innocent creature? What must have this boy have seen in his final moments? How terrified he must have been when he fell into the water? he was too young to even understand what he had experienced. How the waves must have struck his little heart with fear as he grasped for air?

(This story is inspired by the true story of the 3-year-old Aylan Kurdi, who was fleeing his war torn country with his family. Their boat could not hold on against the powerful waves, leaving his entire family dead instead of his father. Aylan is one for millions of people who died because of the war in Syria.)
